Huron River Nature and Birdwatching
![]() photo by Dirk Fischbach The many sections of the Huron that have been left natural make it a wonderful place for bird watching and nature study. Deer can frequently be seen early in the morning and at dusk coming to the river to drink. Birds are plentiful, especially those that depend on the river for food. It isn't uncommon to see Herons, Osprey, Eagles, and a variety of hawks perched along the banks or drifting overhead. Woodpeckers (even Piliated Woodpeckers!) thrive in the dead trees along the river.
Please feel free to e/mail us any unusual or regular sightings. A detailed study of wildlife/plants along the Huron can be found here. A quicktime movie of a heron hunting on the huron!
