Looking north on the River from the MetroParks fishing access site Hamburg Township has created a beautiful boardwalk over the wetlands ending with a viewing platform overlooking the river at Merrill Park.
Merrill Park boardwalk The Huron River Greenways project hopes to establish an extensive network of trails along the river. More information can be found here. Ann Arbor Parks Canoeing (and other) Information Hourly boat rentals Gallup Park Canoe Livery, 3000 Fuller Road, (734) 662-9319, has canoes, kayaks, pedalboats, rowboats and bikes for rent. Until May 2: livery open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; May 3-May 20: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. daily; May 29-Sept. 6: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily; Sept. 7-26: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. daily; Sept. 27-Oct. 17: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Argo Canoe Livery, 1055 Longshore Drive, (734) 668-7411, has canoes, rowboats, kayaks for hourly rentals on weekends and holidays only. May 1-23: Livery open Saturday, Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; May 29-Sept. 6: Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sept. 11-Oct. 3: Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Package trips At Gallup Park Canoe Livery, canoeists can register for longer trips with transportation to points upstream.Trips include Argo Park to Gallup Park, two hours; Delhi Metropark to Argo Park, four hours; Dexter Metropark to Argo Park, six hours. For reservations, call (734) 662-9319 or e-mail csaam@ci.ann-arbor.mi.us Skip's Huron River Canoe Livery, Delhi Metropark, 3780 Delhi Court, (734) 769-8686, offers two- and four-hour trips, dropping canoeists off at Dexter-Huron Metropark and Hudson Mills Metropark. River Day Camp Gallup Park hosts River Day Camp, one-week sessions for children who have finished first through sixth grade. Sessions available June 14-Aug. 27. Activities include canoeing, kayaking, art, games, nature hikes and a cookout. For camp registration forms and more information on events at Gallup and Argo parks, including evening concerts, kayak lessons, fishing tournaments and special full moon canoe rentals, consult the City of Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation Spring/Summer Brochure.
