Powerboating

One of my favorite Boats on the chain of lakes, an older wood Chris Craft. If this is your boat, let us know, we'll publish your name!

Chain of Lakes - Powerboating report - April 16, 2005

This is one of the earliest starts to the season that I can remember.  We put the Whaler in the water today and did a trip from Portage up to Zukey Lake.  Of note is the very low water level this year. Those who are familiar with this section of the river are aware of the tight/shallow entry into Strawberry Lake from the south.  This section is VERY narrow this year, not much room to manuver.  In addition there is a new floating boat lift just downstream from the curve, this is going to provide some amusement this year as folks learn to manuver around it.

But...it was great to be out this early!

A great article from Boating World Online regarding the Huron River Chain of Lakes. Very accurate... Worth reading.

For those of you with "Personal Water Craft" here is a summary of Michigan laws and regulations.
